I suppose what makes these trips to the rocky mountains so perfect is knowing that I will be thawing out under the sun shortly. The change of scenery is wonderful, and for me, the most appreciative in small doses. It is when the mountains are at their darkest and coldest they can be the most spectacular. Cloaked in blizzard conditions at the peak yet tolerable below. It is quiet here. So quiet, and I am very aware of tracks in the snow as I hear noises rustling from the enchanted forest.
