Ocean Tumbleweed

Is there anything better than the smell of fresh brewed coffee in the morning? Seriously. Ice coffee and John's oatmeal pancakes are the best on Sunday, preferably after I've been out on the water relaxing. During brunch we talked about the day. My morning went like this - we took the boat out at sunrise and explored the solitary morning hours before beaching for my run along the surf. When I got hot, I dove in the surf, came up for air and flowed right into yoga on the sand. Yoga in the sand is rather hard without a mat.

Perhaps I worked up an appetite?

Hot Water, Finally

hummus and fruit

Memorial Day Weekend was long and sunny in my neck of the woods with no hot water. It's been a weekend filled with a couple of odd moments to say the least. Trust me, it's not a good feeling pulling up to the house and seeing a stream of water flowing out of the garage. This morning, as I watched him install the new hot-water heater including the pipe for the blow-off valve (in case bad things happen) I wondered if mine would serve its purpose. I'm glad it was in my garage and not the house.

Breakfast Port Side

Breakfast Port Side

I'm headed out on the water today; hopefully, the fish are biting because I know the winds are calm. I stopped at Starbucks this morning and picked up a fruit platter for breakfast and a spinach feta wrap for lunch later. The rest of the cooler is filled with drinks and sunscreen to keep cool. It's an SPF 70 day and covering up is wise.

Creme de la Crêpe

strawberry marscapone stuffed crêpes

Over the weekend I wanted to celebrate the 1st day of Spring by making one of my specialties in anticipation of the more agreeable weather. We sort of have strawberries coming out of our ears from the festival in Plant city; therefore, I thought I would show them off wrapped in delicate crepes.

Galley Cooking

bridge

The winds are really beautiful right now and the seas are calling. Galley cooking is one of the things I don't do too much of because my boat does not have a galley. I'm on someone else's boat here. Breakfast was a platter of fresh fruit and coffee on the bridge. Anything more than this and it gets in the way.

Frozen Blueberry Soufflé

Valentine's day brunch is something I looked forward too. Living in Florida, I have an abundance of fresh citrus hanging heavy on the trees. As I awoke from my peaceful slumber, the scent of oranges filled the air from the kitchen and the bacon began to sizzle. Ramekins were filled with fresh eggs and imagination. I was mostly proud of the frozen blueberry soufflé with the mousse texture. Either way I couldn't loose. Valentine's day should always fall on the weekend.
