Surfers are flocking to Hawaii where waves are going off on the North Shore. The Eddie competition is held when they reach 20 feet + in Waimea Bay. The closest I ever come to surfing something of this size is gliding down a mountain covered in snow. Wiping out in fresh powder is much more forgiving than a 20 foot wave pulverizing me.

My days used to begin at 5:30 am; however, I've been feeding my brain the manipulation of registry hives in memory and require more sleep. The mornings are a perfect time for me to take in peaceful yoga on the beach before the glorious day unfolds, aka 'controlled chaos'. It's the time of year here that the morning refreshes instead of the heat wave that envelops with sunrise. I'm always glad at the end of each session how relaxed I feel.

The Mount Vernon Fall Wine Festival and Sunset Tour takes place October 2-4, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This annual rite of fall is a tradition at Mount Vernon and allows visitors to see the home and the cellar of George Washington's mansion at night while enjoying wine from 17 Virginia wineries.

Families play along the beaches, and boaters cruise the lake; traffic slows on State 89, and the Truckee River overflows with inner-tubers. Still, from North Lake to Emerald Bay, and South Lake to Incline Village, I find plenty of peace, quiet, and beauty.

This is going to be a busy month for me and JetBlue. For $599 I can fly everyday to one of their destinations.
