Fort Matanzas sits on the south point of St Augustine for the purpose of guarding the areas inhabitants from enemies. Can I just say that enemies would never attack in the summer because I nearly passed out from the blazing heat. Armed with a light picnic lunch I had enough time to enjoy the views at my leisure. The monument is a piece of American Colonial history.
