Kayaking the Mangroves

Nature soothes my soul and on a warm 80 degree afternoon I'm feeling okay again. I haven't felt much like writing in my blog because my dog had to be put down. It's been a rough time and I'm trying to focus on positive things again. Coda would want me to do that and remember the good times. And though, I'm usually packing up my car with her in tow - she will always be in my heart.

X Marks The Spot

The patient is doing very well. Coda started palliative radiation therapy on Wednesday and this will continue for 3 more treatments. Coda has gotten her life back and so have I. The radiation does not hurt her; but, they do knock dogs out in order to keep them still. If I ever learn how to teach a dog not to breathe I'm joining forces with FVS.

The Patient

Some people ask what can be done with a situation like this when a dog is faced with a bad hand. I can only answer from our experience so far because it depends on many factors. A huge support system is needed and you will need help. The prednisone alone will make her eat and drink more than usual and she will need access to both every 3 hours. What goes in must come out so make sure you plan on getting the dog out for taking care of business so to speak.

Coda's MRI

I checked on Coda from her MRI last night and she is resting comfortably. Coda was on an I.V and rather groggy and the Vet thought it was best to keep her overnight. They did allow me to bring her home cooking and visit for awhile. She didn't feel up to eating but she did perk up when she saw me.

Life Is Short, Eat Dessert First

As I mentioned before, my dog has cancer and I've been dealing with getting her treatment. Her appetite is nonexistent, so then as I plopped down and ate a cookie on a plate she then proceeded to sashay right up to the plate and eat the remains of my Tortica de Maron. She loved it. Who knew? And who can blame her for wanting my favorite dessert treat in the world. Now, I'm not saying with all this foodie excitement that I have created a monster but it makes me wonder...

Does she want the better foods in life for whatever life she has left in her? Poor baby
