Ship Shape

Living near the coast and having a boat means upkeep and maintenance for safety and comfort. We make sure every flare, fire extinguisher, and flotation device is ready for quick access before the season kicks off. In addition, we check anchor lines and doors for loose hinges. Did I mention this is in addition to the tune up and battery replacements. Boating is not for everyone; but, if you are responsible and don't mind upkeep and boat safety regulations you are cut for some serious adventure.

LOST in my own World

The LOST finale may have come to a close but I'm still spending my existence logging onto every "Lost" message board on the Internet. You know those people who were obsessively dissecting every episode? That was me. It's what I love about the show and how it feeds us bits of information to keep us searching for our own answers. I loved the finale, I got it and it made sense in the way LOST played our every season. I know some people haven't seen it all so I won't spoil it for you.

One of the most most outstanding snorkeling attractions near Staniel Cay is Thunderball Grotto which was famously named after scenes filmed inside the grotto from the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball starring Sean Connery. It has also been used for scenes from Never Say Never Again and Splash. The grotto is a very short five minute boat ride from the Staniel Cay Yacht Club and the entrance is marked with a buoy you can tie your boat off to and a tiny sign above the entrance identifies the entrance as "Thunderball Cave".

Yachting in the Exumas

Staniel Cay, Yachting, Exumas, Bahamas

Recently, I had the luxury of taking some time off and enjoying the boat. Staniel Cay Yacht Club is an ideal place to spend at least a week if you have a desire be away from crowds and island hop. It's located in the beautiful Exumas chain and features some of the most spectacular beaches and scenery in the Bahamas. Each morning involved charting a new course in search of shipwrecks or plane wrecks in hopes of finding sunken treasure to snorkel and dive. I bought a specific nautical chart of the area so this was easy to find. I'm the kind of person that enjoys pouring over maps for pleasure.
