Loggerhead Marine Center in Juno

Loggerhead sea turtle
On my morning jog I stopped at a place along my route to check out the Sea Turtle Sanctuary in Juno Beach. Each tanks holds one turtle in order to let it recover. Due to the proper handling of these creatures only park rangers and the wildlife commission are allowed to bring them in so contact them if you find one struggling. Once they are brought to the sanctuary they undergo a full veterinarian scan for assessing their individual health needs.

This guy was so animated. I just know he was saying how happy he was to be alive and given a second chance. If you care enough to adopt you can help rescue a turtle. This area is the largest area where they come ashore and one of the reasons the rescue is here. I like watching them heal in the tanks and when I asked how long they stay I discovered it varies depending on the patients needs. On average they tend to be here 3 months unless it's a devastating injury and it takes longer.

The tiny Kemp Ridley is eating breakfast which consists of Ahi Tuna. The Kemp Ridley is the most endangered of the sea turtles and these are the ones that come ashore during the daylight to lay their eggs.

The Ocean is a magical place for me. Learning how I can help the life in it and make a difference allows me to contribute.
