Bad Weather

What a mess of rain we are in for tonight. A squall line with 90 mph winds is moving in and I'm keeping a watchful eye on the roof. So far so good.

For dinner I cooked up a concoction of grains, beans, and leafy greens. I've never tried kale before and since I like to try new things - I was game. If it doesn't turn out I can resort to the frozen pizza in the freezer, right?
First, I sauteed garlic and mushrooms in olive oil and then added sweet rice wine vinegar to the mushroom mix. Stir for 10 minutes and then add the wheat berries to cook for 20 minutes.
While I chopped the kale I nibbled on a raw leaf and decided it must be cooked to be eaten.
Feedback on the soup was just good at first but didn't last for long. I did eat every drop of the soup; however, the only bowl tipped was mine. I would agree this vegetable is not for everyone; however, the health benefits of kale are widely extolled.
Surely I can salvage the evening with a cranberry walnut muffin and cup of tea.
Stay dry and safe.
