I Come From The Water

What defines me as a food blogger and makes me unique?
Food is the one constant in my life. Every day I eat and sometimes I dream of running off to live in Italy to cook for tourists in a tiny village. Then I wake up to reality and realize I already have a great life here. Living along the Florida Gulf Coast I get the added bonus of catching and cooking up the local daily fresh catch whenever I want. This means I can fillet fish in under 2 minutes and would probably live on an island very well if I ever got stranded. My friends and I like to pull our resources together and have fish fries and clam bakes on the beach to enjoy the sunsets. Simple clean eating is ideal for me and I don't fuss on too many ingredients or hard to find items. Once you've had freshly caught fish or seafood it is really hard to enjoy it any other way. The flavors melt in my mouth like butter and each fin and shell has a unique texture to savor.

Why I enjoy the blog world?
In a word, community. When I joined Foodbuzz, I became part of an online community that fits my life and it has been so much fun! A couple of friends of mine encouraged me to add a blog to my website and I've been doing so ever since. Besides recipes and stories, I offer mobile cell phone tools geared specifically for travelers. My iPhone and Android apps are handy for people on the go.

Why am I here?
To have fun and demonstrate cooking fish is not hard or scary! Cooking at times is challenging and sometimes I don't always know what I'm doing but I try it anyhow. I'll never live down the Thai Chicken Curry Soup that I attempted and my family still laughs about it. If you can't have a little fun in the kitchen, then you probably don't know how to have fun. Cooking should be pleasurable and sometimes I'm traveling, working, studying, running or eating out. At the end of the day I truly enjoy gathering with people over a meal and sharing the time together. It's not exclusively about the food but the company I share it with. My Foodbuzz friends understand this more than anyone else I know and this is what keeps me coming back every single day.

I need your help in order to make it to the next PFB challenge so please vote for me.

Stella's Gravatar Nice! And, yes, cooking fish isn't scary at all, despite popular belief. Oh, and good luck with the challenge!
p.s. I live on the gulf and can't find fresh fish anywhere. Where are you getting this wonderment (smile)?

Lauren's Gravatar Thanks Stella,

Mostly, these are my own catch. Cox's seafood has plenty of fish if I ever need some.
