Hike to Hamilton Pool Nature Preserve

I enjoy a hike and this was not a difficult one by any means. On the way back up the hill it can be more tiresome. This picturesque trail lead me down a quarter mile path to Hamilton Pool; conveniently beginning at the parking lot.

The downhill trail makes its way through lush plant life and rock formations to follow the creek. There is a fork along the hike and the lower path is the trail I chose.

After thousands of years of erosion, the dome of an underground river collapsed and the natural pool preserve was formed.

My lpolarized ens was left behind so these pictures are not great. The water color was jade green and milky in color. I don't remember it having such a bad glare.

The 45-50 foot waterfall felt like hard rain standing this close underneath of it.

The ledge should be approached cautiously because the rocks are slippery to maneuver.
The preserve is located 10 miles from Dripping Springs, TX and a gem of a place out in the middle of Travis County. It's a nice change of scenery and place to cool off. Park officials only let 75 cars in at a time and this way they keep track of how many visitors are in the tiny pool area. It's not big; therefore, everyone must be accounted for. As cars leave officials allow another to move in for parking and keep a head count.
There is no lifeguard.
