La Giralda in Seville

Seville

Seville is one of the most celebrated cities in southern Spain. It is truly one of the most romantic cities I have seen in all of this region. Andalucia is a spectacular region of white hill towns winding through olive groves. This is old Spain; horses drawn carriages, cobble stones, flamenco and wrought iron adornments.

One of the landmark sites to visit is La Giralda (giraldillo = weather vane at the top) tower that calls the faithful to prayer and serves as an observatory over the city. There was an invasion you know? Also, a reconquest.

Inside the tower is a sloped rise to allow them to ride horses all the way to the top.

The views from the here are expansive and I see the river in the far distance. Seville sits along the plain of the Guadalquivir river; therefore, a fantastic spot to see who or what is coming to town.
