Once Upon A Summer Night

Say the word s'more and you may find yourself surrounded by a small gathering in a outdoor casual setting rather fast. After all, who doesn't have the simple ingredients stashed away in the pantry waiting for the right occasion. In our backyard at the edge of the tree line a small scattering of the bright yellow fairies begin to show themselves as dusk falls. Fireflies to me are the charm of a summer night.

I have the blood orange sunsets here at the beach, but I get a bit nostalgic when I hear my brother on the phone sighting fireflies as we speak long distance. What is it about the seasonal treat that makes me feel like a kid again?
Until our next summer family reunion, I'll do my best to recreate these moments by toasting a marshmellow over an open flame and getting my fingers sticky pulling off the sweet melted gooey goodness and smushing it between a chunk of chocolate and 2 graham crackers.
And look for fireflies.
