Distractions

I must be one of the worst holiday shoppers around. First of all, I waited to tackle my Christmas shopping until mid week when the crowds aren't as bad. After I went to 2 stores I called it quits. Going to a beer tasting sounded like more fun to me. So I headed out in the freezing night to WOB and ordered a Winterbourne. Mmm, it tasted like a Newcastle with a hint of nutmeg. I get sucked into the long couches and 5 big screens showing winter scenery. As I looked around the bar I noticed that it was filling up fast. I wondered how many others were supposed to be "Christmas shopping".

For dinner I made this vegan mac and cheese for a warm comforting fireside meal. This recipe is by Angela and when I mentioned what it really was, my family was not sure if I was kidding. I mean, it looked cheesy and gooey and innocent so how can there be vegetables lurking in the mix. Well, they ate it and they really liked it.

I wanted to try it because eating a big plate of macaroni and cheese isn't something I normally can indulge in because too much dairy bothers me. I felt deprived. This was a winning recipe for me and I'll make it again soon.
With the dew point at 0 degrees I am liking the treadmill and running indoors. I don't get chapped lips or wind burn on my face; though, I wish this freezing weather would leave already.
