Dinner At The Ferry Building

The gala dinner was held on the top floor of The Ferry Building. The meal was catered by Paula LeDuc and wine paired by Bonny Doon Vineyard. The meal was exquisite.

Have you ever seen this much glassware?

Alexa and I talked during dinner and I couldn't help but be curious how Foodbuzz would top this year. She has her work cut out for her but what a great event to plan.

Apologies on the pictures but my memory card was back in the computer at the hotel and I was using my iPhone to capture the scene.

Dining with food bloggers is a safe place. Pulling out a camera and snapping several shots of the golden beet tart is perfectly normal. The appetizer was paired with the 2009 Albarino.

Seared sea scallops braised with fennel and fennel fronds. Paired with 2007 Le Cigare Blanc.

Rosemary garlic infused rack of lamb served with local wild mushrooms and butternut squash puree. The dish was paired with 2007 Le Cigare Volant. My favorite blends of reds contain mouvedre, grenache and syrah. Each wine enhanced the flavor of the characteristics on the plate. When wine is well paired, I find myself eating food I don't normally eat.

Buttery almond cake with oranges and spanish sherry sabayon. Served with a dessert wine Vin de Paille. I could drink the wine alone but the dessert helped the spicy side come alive.
Afterwards, I walked off the feast and took the long way back to the Hotel.
My compliments to Paula LeDuc catering and Bonny Boon Winery and Foodbuzz for planning such a lovely meal in the historic Ferry Building.
